Doudet-Naudin Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Les Vergelesses 1999
Great value for a 1999 Premier Cru! One of the prime sites in Savigny, lying just about the Pernand-Verglesses vineyard of the same name. The sandy-marl soil with iron-rich oolite in the upper levels produces a wine with great perfume and style. Spicy nose of raspberry and black cherry combined with aromas of clove, white pepper and background notes of vanilla. Stony minerals. Very fresh with a delightful lift. Vital. Sleek and refined. Has the power and structure of 1999 with the zip of Savigny-les-Beaune.
Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur Meursault 1er Cru Perrieres 2013
750ml Normally $159.50
1500ml MAGNUM Normally $329.95
Only 18 bottles and 6 Magnums left
Firm reduction renders the nose impossible to properly assess. There is outstanding intensity and a lovely bead of minerality to the elegant, pure and beautifully well-detailed flavors that are at once refined and classy. This should be excellent though note that it will definitely need a few years in a cool cellar first. A Sweet Spot Wine. 91-93 Points
Domaine Gilbert et Christine Felettig Gevrey-Chambertin La Justice 2013
John Gilman "View from the Cellar": As Monsieur Felettig observed, this parcel was purchased in 1995, when the vines were twenty years of age and not in particularly good shape, but after twenty years of his vineyard, he is now very happy with the quality of the wines emerging from these vines. The 2013 is stellar, offering up a classic blend of red and black cherries, grilled meats, coffee, a fine base of soil tones, smoke, a touch of mustard seed and a lovely framing of cedary wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and complex, with lovely structure, a fine core, ripe tannins and a long, tangy and beautifully balanced finish. Another very high class villages bottling. 2021-2050. 90+ Points
Domaine Latour-Giraud Meursault
1er Cru Genevrieres 2013
Burghound: (from 40+ year old vines from a huge 2.5 ha parcel in Genevrières Dessus). Like several of the wines in the range in 2013 this is distinctly restrained where the aromas of white and yellow orchard fruit, acacia blossom and jasmine tea are subtly marked by a certain exoticism. The equally restrained middle weight flavors brim with both ample minerality and plenty of dry extract that really coat the palate yet the balanced finish is notably dry with terrific intensity and persistence. This is a knockout and well-worth investigating. A Sweet Spot Wine. 93 Points
Domaine Jean-Michel Guillon Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru La Petite Chapelle 2013
Only 9 left
Burghound: (from 50+ year old vines). Ample wood spice and menthol nuances add breadth to the beautifully complex and markedly ripe plum, cassis and black currant suffused nose. There is a beguiling sense of underlying tension to the precise and mineral-driven big-bodied flavors that possess both excellent volume and plenty of power, all wrapped in a firm, austere and overtly tannic finale. Like the old vines Gevrey this is an old school example and is best suited for those who have the patience to wait as this will definitely require it . A Sweet Spot Wine. 91-93 Points
Domaine Georges Lignier Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 2012
750ml Normally $367.00
1500ml MAGNUM Normally $745.00
Only 5 bottles and 4 Magnums left
Tim Atkin MW: Georges Lignier's wines continue to be some of the best-priced reds in the Côte de Nuits. The colour may be vey pale here, but there's no absence of complexity. It's quite a refreshing style with minerality to the fore, fine tannins and supple red and black fruits. Silky, sensitive winemaking. 2018-28. 96 Points
Domaine Dubreuil-Fontaine Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru 2012
750ml Normally $149.50
1500ml MAGNUM Normally $299.00
Only 17 bottles and 1 Magnum left
Burghound: Here the nose is more complex if less refined with a layered array of intensely sauvage red and dark berry aromas that display notes of earth, smoke and underbrush. There is a relatively refined mouth feel as the tannins are unusually fine-grained for the appellation though this retains the typical power and muscle of a fine Clos du Roi, all wrapped in a serious finish. This is very Corton yet less rustic than it usually is. 93 Points
