Domaine de la Solitude Cuvee Barberini Back Vintages direct from the Domaine

Solitude Back Vintages Header
More great back vintages from Domaine de la Solitude
Domaine de la Solitude has been very generous of late offering us a selection of back vintages at unbelievably fair prices.
The latest offer is a parcel of 2000 and 2001 Cuvee Barberini rouge direct from their cellars.
Cuvee Barberini was the domaine's first prestige cuvee and is named after the forefather Francois Barberini, the first in the line, and Maffeo Barberini who became Pope Urbain VIII. The wine is only produced in top vintages when around 3000 bottles are made. The first vintage was 1999 so these are two of the historic early bottlings.
The domaine has offered these back vintages at the same price as the current 2012 release. And we've made the Pre Arrival Discount 25% to make them even more tempting
If you love Chateauneuf-du-Pape with some bottle age you should grab some of these before they all go.

John Gilman View from the Cellar:  The Cuvée Barberini from Domaine de la Solitude is their luxury bottling that is only  produced in what the family perceives are top vintages. The 2000 is made from a blend of forty  percent grenache and thirty percent each of syrah and mourvèdre, with sixty percent of the cuvée
raised in new oak barrels, with the wine coming in at a very civilized fourteen percent alcohol in this very ripe vintage. The bouquet is deep and complex, offering up a mature mélange of dark berries, black cherries, charred wood, roasted venison, a nice serving of bacon fat and a nice framing of toasty new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and complex, with excellent focus and balance, moderate, well-integrated tannins, low acids and superb length and grip on the fully mature, complex and suave finish.

Robert Parkers's Wine Advocate:  The outstanding 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Barberini (a blend of 40% Grenache, 40% Syrah, and 20% Mourvedre aged 24 months in 40% small barrels and 60% neutral wood foudres) boasts an inky/ruby/purple color in addition to a big, sweet nose of creme de cassis, melted licorice, graphite, smoke, and truffles. Full-bodied, lush, and expansively flavored, with tremendous purity as well as density, this brilliant 2001 is already starting to strut its stuff. 93 Points
