Domaine Etienne Sauzet Montrachet Grand Cru 2007
$895.00 a Bottle
Sauzet Montrachet Label
Burghound:
This is ever-so-slightly riper and less restrained aromatically than the Chevalier with a densely fruited nose offering lightly spiced pear, white peach, lemon-lime and a hint of honeysuckle plus a touch of clove and anise that merge seamlessly into concentrated, powerful and weighty flavors that are not massive but they are focused, well-muscled and impressively scaled all the same and culminate in a superbly complex and deep finish that reminds me a lot of the 2002 version as it seems to come in wave after palate drenching wave. This is not as elegant and pure as the Chevalier but it somehow manages to deliver yet another dimension. In sum, an absolute knockout. Amazingly, this rivals the '93 as the best Montrachet Sauzet has ever made, and anyone who has tasted a well-stored bottle knows that is high praise.

Taylor's Vintage Port 2003
$195.00 a Bottle
Wooden Case of 6 Bottles $1080.00

Taylors 2003 Port Label
Roy Hersh's For the Love of Port: A memorable youngster with a dark, inky hue. Lifted aromas of violet and lilac flowers, essence of grape, dominant cassis and vanilla bean. This is a deeply extracted and huge young Port that is brawny and potent. There's a bright future ahead as this will be great at the half century mark, with powerful tannins that bring it front and center. Plenty of acidity and vibrancy to go along with the ripe blackberry pie flavor. I had forgotten how gorgeous this Port is and I was glad to have a couple of glasses to remind me. Not for the meek96+ Points

Domaine Armand Rousseau Chambertin Grand Cru 2004
$850.00 a Bottle

Rousseau Chambertin 2004 Burghound: The difference between Chambertin and Clos de Bèze is sharply etched in 2004 as this is cooler, bigger, richer and more powerful though less elegant and with a more limited range of spices specifically and aromatic breadth in general. The medium full flavors are reserved, tight, precise and very pure with extraordinarily good punch and precision, all wrapped in a firm, dusty and linear finish. I particularly like the mouth coating quality of the flavors as there is ample dry extract here, which serves to perfectly buffer the firmly tannic spine. Outstanding stuff and while not a truly great Rousseau Chambertin, it's knocking on the door. 93 Points

Domaine Leflaive Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru 2007
$695.00 a Bottle

Leflaive Chevalier Label Burghound:A strikingly complex nose that is even more complex than that of the Bâtard as there is a great breadth of aromas to the ripe, pure and airy nose of white flower, spice and subtle pear aromas that complement to perfection the rich and mouth coating flavors built on a base of fine minerality, all wrapped in a sappy and mouth coating finish that oozes dry extract. This is really a lovely effort that is almost as powerful as the Bâtard but as one would expect, finer and even a bit longer with an almost painfully intense backend. A very impressive effort that is positively Zen-like in its poise and quiet sense of harmony. A 'wow' wine though note that it will need plenty of time to fulfill all of its vast potential96 Points

Lucien Le Moine Bonnes-Mares 2005
$650.00 a Bottle

Le Moine Bonnes-Mares 3 Wine Advocate - David Schildknecht
Saouma makes no secret of the fact that his 2005 Bonnes Mares - and in fact that cru in general - is his personal favorite. The nose suggests concentrated confiture of red and black raspberries with salty, resinous and smoky accents - almost archetypal for this site, in fact. And like so many 2005s from this vineyard, the wine has a slightly gamey, tart, savage edge of fruit and mineral to it. Bitter black chocolate low tones and floral high notes add complexity. For sheer intensity, it is hard to beat this amazing performance - but for refinement, complexity or mystery, there are other Le Moine wines I would place ahead of it. 94-96 Points

Delamotte BdB 2007

Serious Blanc de Blancs from Salon's Sister House

great champagne is first and foremost a great wine. This is the challenge that drives Maison Delamotte and its sister house, the legendary House of Salon, both of which are located in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of the most prized Grand Cru Villages of the Côté des Blancs.

In 1760, Champagne Delamotte was one of only five Champagne houses in the region. Located in the heart of the Côte des Blancs in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger it is the sister house to the mythical House of Champagne Salon with which it shares the same viticultural, winemaking and management team, both run by Didier Depond.

Vineyard location is the key that guides Delamotte's expression defining the house's elegant, focused style of wine. A house like no other with all its vineyards sourced from the Grands crus of the Côte des Blancs, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize and Cramant for chardonnay, Delamotte is one of the very few negociants to cultivate such a passion for the expression of this unique ward of Champagne.

We have both the NV and 2007 Vintage Blanc de Blancs available.

They are worth a serious look!
