One of Burgundy's greatest vineyards at a very keen price
"...probably the best wine I have ever tasted from the estate..." Neal Martin
The Grand Cru vineyard of Richebourg is only 8.03 hectares in size of which almost half belongs to Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. The extended Gros family own almost 2 hectares quite equally shared between the three domaines. That means there are not a lot of producers.
Jasper Morris say "Richebourg is usually considered the grandest of the grand crus in the village, apart from the monopoles of Romanee-Conti, La Romanee and La Tache."
The style of Richebourg is all about refined power. In its youth it can appear closed but with time it blossoms into a wine of real power and depth. It is often described as "an iron fist in a velvet glove".
The string of small vintages, huge demand for top end Burgundy from developing markets, and the fall in the value of the Australian Dollar have all seen the price of Richebourg rise dramatically in recent years. Yet the demand continues and there is never enough to satisfy world demand.
The 2012 A-F Gros Richebourg is now in bottle and clearly the wine is a stunner. It appears some tasters missed the wine's subtleties and complexity in barrel. Blind tasting alongside similar wines is the only way to accurately evaluate fine wine.
We have 20 bottles remaining from our 2012 allocation and today we present the opportunity to buy a bottle or more of this majestic wine at very keen price. The landed price for the Domaine A-F Gros Richebourg will be $1239.00. Today, you can save $394.00 a bottle!

Wine Advocate; Neal Martin: Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Richebourg Grand Cru from A.F. Gros has a very fine bouquet, very expressive with vibrant, shimmering red berry fruit, cherry liqueur, boysenberries and marmalade. This is both complex and involving. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, beautifully poised and supple, elegant and utterly harmonious on the finish. The terroir and winemaking here exude Grand Cru quality. It's probably the best wine I have ever tasted from the estate and in a different league to some older vintages that I tasted from the domaine just a few days later. Oct, 2015.
