"Jean-Michel Chartron continues to make absolutely superb wines from his family's domaine in the centre of Puligny-Montrachet, and his 2013's are another extremely strong set of wines."
"The entire range in 2013 is outstanding and Domaine Jean Chartron really deserves to be wider recognized for the beautiful wines that they have been consistently producing for many years now - the 2013s are stellar."
John Gilman, A View from the Cellar January 2015
Domaine Jean Chartron has a magnificent range of wines from Puligny-Montrachet and nearby.
In addition to the Grand Crus there is a range of Premier Crus of which two always stand out as extremely special wines. Both are Clos (a walled vineyard) and both are Monopoles (a single owner).
The wines are Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Pucelle and 1er Cru Clos du Cailleret.
The vineyards themselves are well situated. Between them they adjoin all of the Grand Cru vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet. Not surprisingly the wines have more than their fair share of Grand Cru style. They are both complex, mineral, stylish and long. I rate them up there with the 1er Crus of another famous maker who costs around twice the price.
We are pleased to offer the wonderful 2013's. We urge you to act quickly as these wines are very limited.

John Gilman, A View from the Cellar: The 2013 Clos de la Pucelle is more reserved and more precise in profile than the very good Folatieres this year, as it offers up a first class bouquet of lemon, apple, pear, a beautifully complex base of chalky soil tones, lemon blossoms and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, long and deep, with outstanding focus and grip, a fine sense of reserve out of the blocks that augurs extremely well for its evolution in bottle and great balance and nascent complexity on the very long and pure finish. Great juice. 2018-2040+ 94 Points
Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Clos du Caillerets Monopole 2011

Pre Arrival Price $183.50

John Gilman, A View from the Cellar: The 2013 Clos des Caillerets from Jean-Michel Chartron is utterly classic and a great wine in the making. The bouquet is a superb and very floral melange of delicious apples, lemon, very complex, chalky minerality, spring flowers, apple blossoms and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and properly reserved out of the blocks, with a rock solid core, laser-like focus and huge backend energy on the very long, poised and electric finish. Brilliant premier cru in the making! 2019-2040. 94+ Points
