One of the Greatest Selections of Vintage Port ever offered in Australia. Price rises imminent

Symingtons Price Increase Header

A wonderful range of Vintage Ports at Pre Arrival Prices

Direct from the Symington Estates Oporto Cellars

Sorry, due to the weak Australian Dollar prices will rise at 3pm Friday 25 September 2015

We're getting battered by the weak Australian Dollar. Not even a change of Prime Minister has returned it to what it was a few months ago.

The bad news is that we are forced to adjust Pre Arrival Pricing to reflect the considerable change. As of 3pm this Friday prices on all Pre Arrival Vintage Ports in our Symingtons Offer will increase by around 10%. We are sorry but we cannot influence the exchange rate.

Until 3pm Friday 25 September 2015 we will hold the "old" prices. After that all prices will be adjusted and the old prices will no longer be available. Please get your order in promptly.

The Symington Family are the owners of many of the biggest names in Port including Cockburn, Dow, Gould Campbell, Graham, Martinez, Quarles Harris, Smith Woodhouse, Quinta do Vesuvio and Warres.

5 Ports 2To present the Ports we have put together a substantial catalogue with background information, tasting notes and more.

If you are new to Vintage Port I think you will find it interesting reading and for those already converted you should find a seriously good range of bottles.

All of these wines have been sourced direct from the estates and as they have rested in the cellars for up to forty years they are in pristine condition.

Wines still available go back to the glorious 1970 vintage. You will find identical vintages to compare between shippers, or you have the rare opportunity to assemble verticals from a single producer. The one key feature is that all of the wines have been perfectly cellared.

If you are a lover of Vintage Port I urge you to take a good look at this serious offering, most which is available at Pre Arrival Prices (Quinta do Vesuvio and Warres are already in Australia). Considering the perfect provenance of the wines we think the prices are very reasonable. You can buy thirty year old vintage ports, right in their drinking window, for the price of the current vintage. You don't have to cellar the wines to enjoy them at their best and you don't have to suffer the risks of purchasing at auction.

You can download a copy of our Vintage Port: Direct from the Symington Estates catalogue in PDF format here.

A Great Bottle of Aged DRC
1971 Grands Echezeaux

The 1971 vintage for DRC is arguably the greatest of the decade (above 1978). The wines have aged beautifully and have all the great DRC spice characters. The vintage is rarely seen in Australia.

If you have ever wanted to try a legendary DRC this is your chance.

Jancis Robinson: A great bottle of a wonderful wine that brought back another era. In fact it reminded me of the Amoureuses 1959 that got me into this whole wine business nearly 40 - eek - years ago (see Jancis Robinson - the long version). Very pale, complex, not entirely clear fox red. Very sweet, funky nose that could only be DRC! Mushrooms and great forest floor depth. Clearly from a great, old-fashioned vintage. I would guess in this era that this was chaptalised, but this has such intensity and integrity that it is light years from soupy. SO clean on the finish. Sweet start yet utterly clean and brisk on the finish. Is it a little funkier than current vintages? The small sample really evolved in the glass; the second sniff had more strawberries to it. Real delicacy and the sort of thrill that only great burgundy can give. Long and elegant, yet visceral in its appeal. Very, very persistent. So rich - exotic and feral.
