Burgundy: Big Names, Aged Bottles. Dinner at Noir. Monday 19 October.‏

Burgundy Big Names Header
A great opportunity to drink some very serious wines at an affordable price
Our Wine Dinners usually fall into two camps - those with new or recent releases at under $200 a seat and those with old and rare wines at north of $1200 a seat.
In recent months we have had quite a few requests for a dinner positioned somewhere in between. A dinner where everyone can experience some top producers, great vintages and aged bottles.
We think our Burgundy: Big names, Aged Bottles Dinner fits the bill!
At this dinner we will sample a range of Grand Cru Burgundy going all the way back to 1934. There are great names like Leflaive and de Vogue and top vineyards including Le Montrachet, Chambertin and Musigny. And if that is not enough we have a trio of sweeties from 1962 back to 1939 to finish. For anyone interested in tasting some special wines this dinner is a must-attend event as very few of the bottles being served could be purchased for the price of a seat.
This dinner will be at one of our favourite venues - Noir - in Richmond. Click here to visit Noir's website.
We have just 12 seats (including myself) available for this dinner so do not delay.

Anne Gros Richebourg Label
Last 2 Bottles of the Stunning 2009 Anne Gros Richebourg
Richebourg is one of the great vineyards of Burgundy and has risen in price dramatically in the last few years with increased demand, particularly from Asia. The 2013 version of this wine would be around $1300!
Antonio Galloni Vinous:
Good bright, deep red. Wonderfully vibrant aromas of raspberry, flowers, blood orange, cardamom and cocoa powder. Offers an uncanny combination of silky texture and sappy energy, with the brisk red berry and floral flavors accented by licorice and medicinal herbs. This is actually less backward today than the Clos Vougeot, but should enjoy a slow and glorious evolution in the bottle. The vibrant, slowly mounting finish features firm tannins and outstanding grip and length. 96 Points

Here too there is noticeable wood influence but it's less obvious and does not really interfere with the transparency of the spicy nose of red currants, blue berries and cassis that is cool and restrained. There is outstanding intensity to the mineral-driven big-bodied flavors that are both slightly tighter but notably finer than those of the Clos de Vougeot, not to mention more serious and longer with notably less of the overt sweetness. While certainly a big and muscular effort, it is actually quite refined and should be exceptional in time.
95 Points

Normally $950.00
Special $795.00 a Bottle
