Clos du Roi is the most famous and respected of Corton's Grand Cru sites. It typically produces a wine of majesty and power, hence its regal name.
The mother rock here is limestone and the elevation of 300 to 320 metres, just below the crown of the hill, is perfect for Pinot Noir.
Last night we took our first look at the 2013 Dubreuil-Fontaine wines. The standout for me was the Corton Clos du Roi.
Today, we feature the wine and present a very special opportunity for lovers of this very popular producer.
We normally offer a 15% Pre Arrival Discount on Burgundy. For the next 72 hours we are going to increase this to 20%. If you buy a unbroken case of 12 bottles we will increase the discount to 25%. That makes this Grand Cru an incredible $119.96 a bottle. I think that is simply amazing for a Grand Cru in today's strong Burgundy market.

Drink Grand Cru Burgundy at a (low) Premier Cru Price. Be quick, this Special Offer ends at 10am Friday 4 October 2015. Burghound: (from a .62 ha parcel). Here too there is just enough wood to warrant noting though it is sufficiently subtle that the expressive aromas of earth, game, smoke, forest floor and dark berry fruit aromas have no trouble being appreciated. There is excellent size, weight and power to the full-bodied flavors that possess excellent punch and ample minerality on the balanced, complex and solidly persistent finish. Note that this will require patience. 2025+.
