2011 Cockburn's Vintage Port‏

Cockburn 2011 Header

Wine Enthusiast "Considered the best vintage in the last twety years"

2011 will go down as one of the great years for vintage port. It was declared by all major producers and the wines are powerful and complex. Bento Amaral, who heads up the tasting panel at the IVDP at the Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e Porto (IVDP), Port's governing body. "It is beautifully balanced, with impressive acidity and great aging potential." Paul Symington, co-chairman of Symington Family Estates, agrees. "They are simply beautiful wines," he says.

The general consensus is that 2011 is the best vintage since 1963.

Jancis Robinson said "There is little doubt that 2011 produced some stunning vintage ports, into which more effort and skill has gone than any other previous vintage in the Douro. And I find it impossible to think of any other wine region, anywhere in the world, that produced better wines."

We have a little of the terrific 2011 Cockburn to offer.

Cockburn's Vintage Port 2011

750ml Bottle $129.00

Cockburn 2011 Label

Stephen Tanzer: Bright, full ruby. Deep, vibrant nose melds kirsch, minerals, licorice, bitter chocolate, lavender and violet. At once dense and penetrating, displaying terrific floral cut to the primary, high-pitched flavors of black cherry, minerals, spices and white pepper. Boasts outstanding fat and inner-mouth floral lift, with bright acidity contributing to the wine's light touch. An utterly seamless young port with outstanding mounting length and precision and the spine to support a slow and glorious evolution in bottle. A great vintage for Cockburn, and an amazing value in world-class wine for laying down. 95 Points

Wine Enthusiast: A very satisfying wine, this is ripely fruity, firmly tannic and dense. It has weight as well as the right balance of fruit and structure. It's impressively powerful and concentrated while showing great fruitiness. The finish highlights its freshness. 97 Points

55 Years Old!
Last few bottles of delightful 1960 Vintage Port

At 55 years of age these show just how well properly cellared vintage port can age.
We have a few bottles of Dow, Sandeman, Taylor and Warre in stock.
I have consumed them all and they are all delicious.
A rare opportunity to buy properly cellared Port. And at prices that make many new releases look expensive.
