Les Amoureuses is one of the great vineyards of Burgundy. Despite being classified a Premier Cru it produces magnificent, aromatic, complex and supple wines that outperform many Grand Crus. Accordingly, it is priced like a Grand Cru.
The vineyard is just 5.4 hectares in size and there are not a lot of producers. The only producer in our portfolio is Albert Bichot who make a tiny amount each year. There is simply not enough of this wine to go around.
In addition to Les Amoureuses this year we have also been offered a little of the Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Chabiots. This seldom seen vineyard of 1.5 hectares adjoins Les Amoureuses and provides an interesting comparison.
The Australian allocation of both wines is very small. At the time of writing we have just 5 bottles of each remaining. I can't believe that we have any! These are rare wines!
We offer the wines as a 2-Bottle Pack at our usual Pre Arrival Discount of 15%. If you want some of these you will need to act very quickly.

Les Amoureuses. Burghound: A fireworks-in-a-glass nose is strikingly spicy with its gorgeously layered aromas of lilac, plum, violet and exotic tea scents. The silky and intensely mineral-infused medium weight flavors are shaped by ultra-refined tannins on the firm and impeccably well-balanced finale that goes on and on. This is a very classy effort that should also be relatively accessible young but amply reward longer-term bottle ageing.A Sweet Spot Wine. 92-94 Points
Les Chabiots. Burghound: A brooding and inexpressive nose mixes notes of red pinot fruit with a lovely array of spice and floral elements, in particular violets. There is a wonderfully refined mouth feel to the seductively textured medium-bodied flavors that are finer but less obviously mineral-inflected than the Sentiers on the impressively persistent finish. This is very "Chambollesque" in style and should drink well young as well as reward 8 to 10 years of cellaring. A Sweet Spot Wine. 90-93 Points
