Almost Gone! Rioja from the 1960's and 1970's for as little as $76.50 a Bottle!‏

Rioja 1960 1970

40 Year Old Rioja from "The Vintage of the Century" for around $100 a Bottle! Be quick stocks are dwindling rapidly!

Our recent aged Rioja offer have been keenly received. If you have been thinking about grabbing some of these incredible bargains time is running out.

The region of Rioja remains the king of red wines in Spain, despite the fact that these days, there are less top producers making traditional wines than there were in the past. The wines are traditionally a blend of varieties with Tempranillo to the fore, aged for extended periods in old barrels.

Rioja is as age-worthy as the wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy, yet it flies under the radar compared to its more well-known peers. This means that a stellar bottle of aged or age-worthy Rioja can be procured for far less than a similarly rated bottle of Bordeaux or Burgundy. It remains a great bargain in today's wine world.

Palacio 1978

We have 14 different wines from 1968 to 1978. All are top vintages. In fact 1970 is generally spoken of as "the Vintage of the Century". Prices start at $76.50 for a 40-year-old wine! But be aware - quantities are now very low.

Castagnier Dinner

Domaine Castagnier Dinner

It is always fun to taste the wines of a new producer. Our first shipment from Domaine Castagnier presents lots of interesting wines for lovers of Burgundy.

Domaine Castagnier own some wonderful old vines in the Cote de Nuits.

In 2007 Jerome Castagnier took over from his father Guy and like so many of these generational changes in Burgundy the quality of the wines from this small domaine has soared.

Today's Castagnier red wines are deeply coloured with vibr

ant, sappy fruit.  They capture the essence of their appellations and with a bevy of old vines they have depth and texture. They are charming with delicious flavours.

This dinner will feature 12 wines, 6 of which are Grand Crus. The wines will be accompanied by a 4-course meal at one of our favourite restaurants - Noir - in Richmond.

Date: Monday

27 April 2015

Time: 7pm

Venue: Noir, 175 Swan Street, Richmond 3121

Cost: $189.00 per person
