Burghound: (from Mazoyères). An intensely sauvage nose of humus, underbrush and game hints add plenty of nuance to the red and dark fruit scents. There is excellent volume and intensity to the overtly mineral-inflected, concentrated and powerful middle weight plus flavors that possess fine balance on the firmly structured and beautifully persistent finish. This is a big but not especially rustic effort that should amply reward extended ageing.

91-94 Points

Bichot Roche Label 2012 Clos-de-la-Roche

Tim Atkin MW: The stand out wine at Bichot in 2012, even though it was made from (very special) purchased grapes. Pepper spicy, concentrated, yet clearly defined it's silky, sweet and beguilingly fruity with very subtle oak integration, fine-grained tannins and a silky, palate-caressing finish. 2017-2797 Points

Frantin Clos Vougeot 2012 Clos de la Vougeot

Grand Cru

Normal Price $389.00

Special $330.50

Tim Atkin MW:
Combining two parcels in the Clos (the lower being the larger of the two) this is quite an oaky expression of this heterogeneous Grand Cru, with some reduction and hints of mint and balsam. But the underlying fruit is very stylish, with racy acidity, polished tannins and a sweet core of red fruits. 94 Points

Frantin Echezeaux 2012 Echezeaux

Underground Wineletter:  Medium/dark ruby color, dusty cherry nose, cherry on attack & palate and a smooth silky mouth-feel, medium/long finish. Exceptional Plus. The highest rated wine at the 2014 Grand Jours de Bourgogne and the only wine to receive this rating! Exceptional Plus

(from a .4 ha parcel). This is decidedly more reserved than the Ech with reticent spice and wood notes adding depth to the ripe scents of plum, dark currant and dried flowers. There is a sophisticated mouth feel to the intense and big-bodied flavors that possess excellent mid-palate concentration, all wrapped in a wonderfully long, powerful and palate staining finish. This should be terrific but note well that plenty of cellar time will be required. 2027+ A "Don't Miss" wine. 92-95 Points

Pavillon Marechaudes GC Label 2012 Corton Clos des Marechaudes

Normal Price $195.00

Special $165.75

Burghound:  (a ~1.9 ha monopole that is split between ~.5 ha classified as grand cru and the remaining 1.4 ha as 1er). Here the nose is compositionally similar to the 1er version but seems just a bit riper though it's hard to judge with accuracy given the reduction. There is good vibrancy and even more evident minerality on the big-bodied but not especially robust medium-bodied flavors that offer focused power on the longer and slightly more complex finish. This will need at least 5 to 7 years of cellaring before it will be approachable but reward 10 to 12. 90-92 Points

Bichot Lavaux Label

2010 Classic Premier Cru from a Great Vineyard

A great site in Gevrey-Chambertin. It is a cool vineyard and is always picked late.

This wine won Decanter Magazine's Best Red Burgundy over £15 2014. It defeated a very impressive array of more expensive bottlings.

A beautifully plush Burgundy, with a minerally, leathery perfume of wild strawberries and cream plus an exuberance of dark red fruit. Deveoping on the palate, with sweet and savoury notes, hints of leather and wood smoke, and enoughfruit to manage the tannins. A long finish and fine future.

Exceptional value for an award winning Premier Cru from 2010.
