Delicious Beaune Premier Cru Reds at easy to digest prices...

Domaine Albert Morot is one of our most popular imports. Run by the charming Geoffroy Choppin de Janvry, this small domaine of only 8 hectares, produces a fine range of Beaune Premier Crus from old vines in some of the commune's best vineyards.
Great care is taken both in the vineyard and winery to ensure the terroir and freshness of the wines are retained.

2012 is a small but very highly regarded vintage for Red Burgundy. Burghound says "2012 produced many really lovely wines that should provide for delicious drinking early on yet be capable of amply rewarding mid-term cellaring and in a few cases, they will be as long-lived if perhaps not quite as long-lived as the 2010s. Moreover there is fine transparency to the wines such that the underlying terroir is very much on display. The high levels of dry extract and relatively fine grain of the tannins combine to create seductively suave textures that avoid any sense of heaviness as there is good freshness and sufficient acid verve to maintain the finishing balance." "Another aspect that I admire about the 2012s is their transparency to the underlying terroir. They really are classically styled burgundies but with a bit more early accessibility than the word classic would suggest. This transparency is considerably aided by the strong sense of vibrancy because despite the vintage's relatively high level of ripeness the wines taste alive in the mouth. They're ripe yet they are what the French call digest, or refreshing where one sip invites the next. They have that Goldilocks factor, which is to say that they're not too much of any one thing and are therefore just right."

I tasted the 2012 Albert Morot wines from barrel mid 2013. The wines were really on song. My notes constantly comment on the superb fruit characters. The wines are fresh, deep and complex. As usual the Morot wines speak of their terroir. This is Beaune at its best!

The 2012's reminded me a little of 2010 but with more fruit weight. They will be delicious in their youth, but like all Burgundy will appreciate some time in the cellar.

Burghound has published his tasting notes. 2012 was very difficult in the Cote de Beaune and yields at Albert Morot were very low at between 20 and 30 hl/ha. Malolactic fermentation was extremely long hence the notation of reduction as the wines were well behind their normal progress at the time of Burghound's visit.

Morot Cent Vignes Label For 2012 we present the range of reds plus for the first time the Beaune 1er Cru Les Aigrots Blanc. We also have some half bottles and Magnums.

Don't miss this opportunity to purchase at Pre Arrival Prices and save 15%. Our allocations of most wines are good except for Marconnets which is very small in 2012. The wines represent great value in today's hot Burgundy market.
