Classic aged Burgundy Dinner

A Brilliant lineup of Grand Cru Burgundy spanning a century!


It has been quite some time our last Rare Wine Dinner. So to get 2015 off to a great start we have, what I feel is, our best ever lineup of great old Burgundy.


We'll start with a bracket of old White Burgundy, the likes of which are almost never seen. The Seguin-Manuel wines came onto the market a decade or so ago and I understand they were hidden away for decades. It will be fascinating to taste a dry white that is a century old.


The first bracket of reds all come from the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin. They are not mere Grand Crus - they are all the majestic Le Chambertin.


Bracket 3 comprises five aromatic reds - 3 from Romanee-St-Vivant and 2 from Musigny. Aged wines at this level are rarely seen.


We'll finish with a pair of old Rayne-Vigneau Sauternes and then 1935 Croft Vintage Port.


These are once-in-a-lifetime wines! There will be a maximum of 12 seats including myself for this dinner so everyone gets a good glass of each wine to drink.

Summer Dinner at Noir 


Just prior to Christmas a new container arrived full of interesting wines from across France.

Stacked inside were a Cru Classe Rose from Provence, southern Rhones and, of course, a range of Burgundy.

We have selected a range to present at our Summer Dinner at Noir Restaurant. Noir is on Swan St in Richmond. It has One Hat in the Age Good Food Guide and is turning our some exceptional dishes at very reasonable prices. You can visit their website here.

We'll start with a refreshing Rose - perfect for the summer months, follow that with a trio of White Burgundy, a bracket of 4 Reds from the south of France and then the stars of the evening - 4 Premier Cru Red Burgundies including the multi award winning Lavaux St-Jacques 2010 from Albert Bichot. Oh, and I almost forgot, a delicious little sticky from Monbazillac will complete the evening.
