Serious 2012 Pommard - Just $58.80 a Bottle by the Case

Berthelemot 2012 Noizons

A Super Pommard from 2012 - just $705.60 a Case (=$58.80 a bottle)

The 2010 release of Berthelemot's Pommard Noizons was Decanter Magazine's World Wine Awards 2013 equal top red Burgundy.

I think the 2012 is at least as good. And in today's hot Burgundy market it is still exceptional value. To check my thoughts I retasted the wine again last night and have published my notes on our website.

We have 80 bottles available so don't delay!

Berthelemot Noizons 2012 Label Domaine Berthelemot own a number of plots in both Petits Noizons and Noizons. The oldest vines date back to 1924.

Jasper Morris describes Noizons as "...this is arguably the best of the village vineyards in Pommard, sitting just above the premier crus with a superb south-east exposure."

Darren Harris: 80% of the crop lost to hail. Purple-red. Plums. Spice. A real aromatic, savoury element, somewhat reminiscent of Volnay. Not at all meaty or clayey. A whisper of quality new oak. The fruit is nicely ripe with mouthfilling flavours and as usual coating ripe, fine tannins. There is a pleasing line of mineral astringency on the long finish. This is very good and yearns for five years plus in the cellar yet is still pleasing to drink now.

This newer style of Pommard is infinitely more appealing than many of the wines of yesteryear.

This wine is remarkable value! How often do you see serious Red Burgundy from a great year at less than $60.00 a bottle?

NSW Dinner at Noir

Nuits-St-Georges Premier Cru Dinner at Noir

Monday 17 November 2014

Our recent Vosne-Romanee Dinner was a tremendous success. It was both fun and educational to taste a line up of wines from a single commune.

Our next Burgundy Dinner goes one step further. This time time we will focus on Nuits-St-Georges.

And to make the dinner even more interesting every wine will be a Premier Cru. 12 Diff

erent to be precise!

The Premier Crus of Nuits-

St-Georges fall into three distinct and quite different sectors.

We have an exciting new venue for this Dinner. Noir is on Swan St in Richmond. It has One Hat in the Age Good Food Guide and is turning our some exceptional dishes at reasonable prices. You can visit their website here.

We will start with canapes accompanied Drappier Champagne, followed by three courses showcasing 12 Different Premier Crus tasting from North to South.
