Last Bottles of the Stunning 2012 Chambertin Grand Cru from Domaine Frantin‏

Frantin 2012 Chambertin Last

Fantastic Reviews from Tim Atkin MW, Winehog, Jancis Robinson and Burghound

Chambertin is one of the great vineyards of Burgundy. It produces majestic wines, full of power and complexity.

Domaine du Clos Frantin's Chambertin comes from a tiny 0.17 hectare parcel owned by the domaine.

Production in 2012 was unusually small and our allocation was accordingly reduced.

We have a tiny amount of this tete de cuvee available for lovers of the great wines of Gevrey-Chambertin. All I can say is be quick! Chambertin is not east to buy!

Frantin Chambertin label 2012 Chambertin

Grand Cru

750ml Usual Price $695.00

Pre Arrival Price $590.00  The Chambertin 2012 from Frantin is a very refined and seductive wine. In the nose very elegant and cool offering airy red fruit, wet stones in a otherwise quite earthy minerality. On the palate very airy and intense red and dark fruit - dancing like a ballerina on an intense yet very refined and finely grained minerality. It's long and very intense but still lightfooted and very filigree - a truly beautiful and refined Chambertin. Drink from 2027. Outstanding94-95 Points

Clos de Tart

A tiny quantity of the Clos de Tart Grand Cru 2012

Clos de Tart is the property of the Mommessin family.

This monople in Morey-St-Denis is 7.53 hectares in size and quite uniquely is planted along the contours rather than down the slope.

Winemaking here has improved enormously and this unique Grand Cru is taking its place amongst the other big names on the Cote d'Or.

We have received our tiny allocation of the 2012 and are delighted to offer the wine at Pre Arrival Prices.

Bottles $732.00

Magnum (one only available) $1399.00

Due to the tiny quantities available the wines are not on our website. Anticipated arrival October 2014.

Tanzer: Deep red-ruby.  Superripe, rather wild aromas of violet, game, woodsmoke, chocolate, bacon fat and truffley underbrush; reminded me a bit of Cote-Rotie.  Big, rich, tactile and deep, showing both a superripe character and slightly medicinal acidity to the flavors of dark berries, chocolate and smoky minerality.  Has the balance of a big Bordeaux.  Very rich but energetic wine with superb depth of flavor and substantial, fully ripe tannins.  This is way beyond the 2011 in dimension and seems built for a long life in bottle.  According to Pitiot, most of the components of this wine were picked with potential alcohol in the range of 13.6% to 13.8%. 92-95 points
