Limited Quantities of the terrific 2010's still available including the two Grand Crus! You will need to act quickly!
I had forgotten that we still have a handful of the outstanding 2010 Burgundies from Domaine Olivier Guyot in our warehouse.
This is a domaine with a long history in Burgundy.
The founder, Louis Guyot was a small farmer/wine-grower with many animals, particularly carthorses which he used to help in the vineyards and at harvest time.
Today the domaine is managed by Olivier Guyot who tends for the 15 hectares spread across Marsannay, Chambolle-Musigny, Gevrey-Chambertin and Morey-St-Denis. And yes, the vineyards are ploughed by Indigo the cart horse (in the photo above), just as his ancestors did.
I first tasted the wines of Domaine Guyot at the Grands Jours de Bourgogne a few years ago. I was very impressed with the purity, race and power the wines displayed.
Guyot is a name that has slipped under the radar. He is not reviewed by Burghound or Tanzer. But I can assure you that the wines are terrific. They are deep and intense but true to their terroir. We are delighted to include this discovery in our portfolio.
We have seven wines from 2010 in stock. As we all know 2010 is a great vintage. When released the Aussie Dollar was stronger and prices ex domaine were lower. So when we add a special discount of 15% to these wines they are serious bargains in today's hot Burgundy market.
If you would like to add some more great 2010's to your cellar now is the time! These are just two of the wines available....
1er Cru Les Fuees
It is no secret that I am a big fan of Les Fuees. For me it captures the essence of Chambolle-Musigny. The 2010 has seen 70% new oak and it carries with aplomb.
The 2010 Fuees is more spicy than the Vieilles Vignes. Classic perfumed Chambolle nose of black and red fruits with minerals and spice. A touch of complexing kirsch character that adds depth to the wine. The wine has lovely silky mouthfeel and a long, and lovely finish. This is extremely stylish. Classic! A knockout wine!
Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Classic Clos de la Roche nose of dark berries and plums with minerals and a touch of earth. Concentrated and deep, dark flavours with plenty of extract before a seriously long, stylish finish. Powerful and brooding and an exceptional example of what this Grand Cru vineyard can produce. It doesn't come much better!
