The Decanter (Magazine) World Wine Awards 2013 were published late last year. It is with considerable pride that we saw one of our Domaines perform extraordinarily well.
Domaine Brigitte Berthelemot may not have been a domaine on everyone's lips but after these awards no doubt things will change.
The Domaine scooped the pool having the equal top White Burgundy of the year with its Beaune 1er Cru Clos de Mouches 2011 and equal top Red Burgundy of the Year with its Pommard Noizons 2010.
The Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches 2011 has sold out (we have the 2012 click here) but we have a few cases left of the Pommard Noizons 2010.
We have been singing the praises of this small, but expanding domaine, for some time. For one day only, or until sold out we offer this award winning wine at a 15% discount. Only 39 bottles left so act quickly!
Domaine Brigitte Berthelemot Pommard Noizons 2010
Normally $69.95 a bottle
Domaine Berthelemot own a number of plots in both Petits Noizons and Noizons. The oldest vines date back to 1924.
Jasper Morris describes Noizons as "...this is arguably the best of the village vineyards in Pommard, sitting just above the premier crus with a superb south-east exposure."
Decanter World Wine Awards 2013 equal top Red Burgundy. Morello cherries on the nose, sweet raspberry coulis joining on the palate. Carefully crafted, lovely structure, with room to get even better.
Darren Harris: Lovely deep colour. Very complex nose of red fruit and light spice. When tasteed after the regular Pommard this has another layer. Fine, pure tannins. A fruit driven style, rather than the tannic, meaty Pommard style of yesteryear.
This wine is remarkable value! How often do you see serious Red Burgundy from a great year at less than $50.00 a bottle?
