Two Grand Cru Vineyards with lots of interesting options

The commune of Flagey-Echezeaux is the home of two Grand Crus - Echezeaux and Grands-Echezeaux. It also has Premier Cru and Villages vineyards which are sold as Vosne-Romanee.

Grands-Echezeaux is a plot of just 9.14 hectares with similar soils to Musigny.

However, Echezeaux is a much more complex beast. Its 37.69 hectares contain eleven lieu-dits. Needless to say in such a large vineyard the soil and aspect varies. Some argue the merits of particular lieu-dits but as always it comes down to maker. Never-the-less, it is not unusual for makers to include the name of the lieu-dit on their label if they feel they have a special holding - for instance Anne Gros Echezeaux Les Loachausses.

We have a fine selction of bottles from both Echezeaux and Grands Echezeaux available. It includes numerous Gros family wines and of course, some DRC.
