Domaine Fernand and Laurent Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Vide-Bourse 2017 (5592)

France - Burgundy - Cote de Beaune - Chassagne-Montrachet

The vines here are about 50 years of age. The domaine's parcel of vines is situated a few meters from the Grand Cru Batard-Montrachet. The soil is clay-limestone and is composed of little stones, aiding drainage in wet conditions. This wonderful position produces a rich and enchanting wine.

Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru 'Vide Bourse' opens delicately with a rich, ample body - both elegant and complex. It has a long and flowing palate with citrus and pear flavors and finely integrated oak. Will reach its potential with 3-10 years ageing.

Wine Advocate - William Kelley

The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Vide Bourse was showing well from barrel, exhibiting aromas of honeyed pears, mandarin, lemon and dried white flowers. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and satiny, with tangy acids to cut through its textural unctuousness and a pure, nicely defined finish. It's the chunkiest, broadest-shouldered wine in the Pillot cellar and should develop well with further élevage and bottle age.

Jancis Robinson

Tank sample. Pretty, floral nose. Very youthful with the building blocks obvious. Racy and chiselled. Pretty powerful. Very promising. Lots to chew on. Drink 2021-2030.
