Wine Enthusiast - Roger Voss

This intensely perfumed wine has been aged in 17th-century cellars in the center of Mercurey. Its red fruits are supported by some firm tannins and rich acidity, giving a dense, juicy wine with some aging potential. Drink this rich wine from 2020.

Darren Harris

A blend of La Pillotte, la Bouthiere, La Vigne Blanche and Le Bourgneuf. Bottled November 2017. Nose of dark fruits. Fresh, tight and nicely structured with lots of character rarely seen at this price point. Finishes long and fine.

The nose is aromatic, elegant and offers a slight richness as well as a slight straightness. It reveals notes of crushed black cherry, plum and a touch of blackberry combined with a hint of crushed strawberry, as well as fine chocolate hints, toasted touches/caramalized wood and a discreet / imperceptible hint of flowers. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, juicy and offers a slight acid frame, elegance, freshness, precision as well as a nice guideline/definition. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy plum, crushed strawberry and slight notes of berries associated with a hint of blackberry, discreet touches of Zan, touches of toasted oak, flowers as well an an imperceptible hint of cassis bud and chocolate. Tannins are fine and well built. Nice persistence.
