Jancis Robinson

Fragrant, impressive lift on the palate with violet and black cherry flavours, and a lovely twist of cinnamon too. Firm palate, but by no means aggressive. Full body and long, concentrated finish.

This is also perfumed and exceptionally pretty with its broad ranging nose of both red and dark berry fruit, the sauvage, floral and soft wisps of earth and spice. There is excellent mid-palate fat and volume that imparts a succulent mouthfeel to the powerful and muscular flavors where the minerality really comes up on the moderately austere, firmly structured finish. This is built-to-age and will need it. SWEET SPOT WINE 2028+

Using fruit from one parcel of purchased grapes, close to the Clos St-Jacques, this is another example of the improvements in Bichot’s négociant wines in recent years. With finely handled 30% new oak, it shows the freshness and elegance of the site, with crunchy red cherry and raspberry fruit and nuanced tannins. 2021-28.
