The first thing one notices about the 2016 whites in the Southern Rhone is that they not full and blowsy. The vintage was nigh on perfect, gradual and long sunshine rather than a blast or extended period of extreme heat. This has allowed the grapes to ripen properly and retain freshness and acidity.

La Solitude's Cotes-du-Rhone Blanc is pale yellow in colour. It has aromas of flowers, pears and a little baking spice. The cut on the palate is lovely. It lifts and carries the flavours to a fine and clean acid driven finish. The wine is long in the mouth with no suggestion of alcohol warmth.

I would suggest drinking the over the next four years to take advantage of the appealing freshness. A top everyday white wine.
