An attractive, elegant Echezeaux with layers of savory spices, dark berries and delicate tannins. There is nice depth and layers in this wine even at a young age. Best with 4-5 more years of bottle age.

Mid crimson. Heady aroma of pure, fresh cherries. An intoxicating sweetness of fruit. Firm tannins encase the fruit on the palate but it is all there in embryo. Dry finesse. Not especially generous on the palate but sustained and promising more.

Distinct notes of oak and menthol can be found on the moderately ripe and spicy red and dark pinot fruit that are cut with hints of exotic tea. There is good richness to the solidly dense and relatively powerful medium-bodied flavors that are shaped by firm tannins on the dusty and borderline rustic finish. This is certainly no shrinking violet and a wine that’s going to need at least a few years to come together because at present it could be fairly described as youthfully awkward. As such, I would recommend buying it only if you’re prepared to cellar it for at least a few years first. 91/2024+
