John Gilman "View from the Cellar"

The premier cru of Perrières was more heavily frosted than Murgers in 2016 and the production here was down by about half in this vintage. The wine has turned out very nicely chez Chartron, offering up lovely precision on both the nose and palate and even a bit more core than the very good Murgers. The nose is a fine blend of apple, pear, chalky minerality, spring flowers and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and rock solid, with lovely balance, bright acids and fine cut and grip on the long, complex and zesty finish. Fine juice. 2019-2035.

Robert Parkers's Wine Advocate

The 2016 Saint Aubin 1er Cru Les Perrières comes from a parcel bought from Chateau de Pommard in 2008 (I never knew they owned parcels outside Pommard!). It has a nicely focused, quite floral bouquet with fresh green apple, pear and white flowers. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry with a keen thread of acidity, plenty of citrus fruit with good weight and concentration on the finish. It is a little conservative, but it will drink well for 4 or 5 years.

A plot bought from Château Pommard in 2008.

Vibrant, yellow citrus. Energy, and freshness, framed by a mouth-watering citrus deliciousness. Vibrant wine!
