Domaine Brigitte Berthelemot Monthelie Rouge 2016 (4632)

France - Burgundy - Cote de Beaune - Monthelie
Pinot Noir

Located between the better known villages of Volnay and Meursault, Monthelie has gradually built up a reputation for quality wines at very good prices.

Domaine Berthelemot have two parcels of Villages Monthelie which are blended to create this wine.

The first is from Pierrefittes. The name is thought to come from "pierre fichee" - an upright stone that stood on the site. The domaine has 0.81 hectares which were planted between 1962 and 1986. The little grapes from these plots give a deeply coloured, robust wine with an aroma of black berries and violets together with long and persistent mineral notes.

The second is from Les Joueres. The name originates from the old French word “jouelles” meaning the crossbars placed between the stakes and used for tying the vine. This 0.28 hectare vineyard was planted in 1969. The wine originating from this plot is very different to that from Pierrefittes. It has an aroma of fresh red berries and is fullbodied and velvety on the palate

Intense ruby with aromas of fresh red and black fruits, with a spicy note. Dense, balanced, precise, with fine firm tannins and nobility. Superb village!
