Domaine Pascal Bouley Volnay 1er Cru Robardelle 2015 (4438)

France - Burgundy - Cote de Beaune - Volnay
Pinot Noir

Bill Nanson:

At the top on the road between Chevrets and Santenots Dessous – usually the most concentrated. It’s an old (70) vine of almost half a hectare but only 2 barrels in 2015… not lots of tannin here – it’s for drinking younger.

Another fine clarity of aroma – here darker fruit compliments the floral notes. Layered and intense flavour, a silken texture, long and lingering but always with more than enough balancing acidity just another super wine… A finish that you can chew on for plenty of time…

Bourgogne Aujourd'Hui

Fresh nose with notes of crushed strawberries. The mouth is ample and fleshy, with tannins already well softened.

A slightly riper yet still reasonably fresh nose combines notes of cassis, black raspberry and lovely spice elements. There is both good vibrancy and an attractive velvety texture to the lightly mineral-inflected middle weight flavors that are refined, indeed even lacy but this doesn’t lack for punch on the firm, serious and well-balanced finale. The Fine Wine Review

With but two barrels (about 600 bottles) of this wine in 2015, there is no new wood here. The wine is floral and perfumed in the nose. The mouth is round and deep with yellow peach and dark fruits, and it shows good freshness and finesse.
