Bill Nanson "The Burgundy Report"

The monopoly of this 0.24 hectare 1er cru section of the Grand Champs vineyard.

Lots of colour. A nose similar to the last – vivid and intense – almost volatile at this stage of elevage. Fresh, fine, very wide, high-toned fruit. A good mid-palate weight of flavour here – more considered, fresh but not with overt energy. Layers in the finish – it’s a great finish. Yum!

(a monopole of only .24 ha that is part of the climat Les Mitans). A background trace of wood can be found on the very ripe cassis, black cherry and anise-scented nose. The impressively rich flavors manage to retain reasonably good definition and tension while delivering sneaky good length on the very firm, dusty and mouth coating finale. This isn’t as refined as the Ronceret, indeed it would be fair to describe it as relatively robust. (89-92)/2025+

The Fine Wine Review

Les Grands Champs is one of those lieux-dits that is part premier cru and part village. Bouley is the sole owner of the premier cru portion. The wine has floral and dark fruit aromas. The mouth is smooth and long with dark fruits and plenty of finesse. The wine seems not quite as tannic as the Robardelles.
