Bill Nanson "The Burgundy Report"

White soil, lots of limestone – it’s like the Clos des Chênes. Bought in 2007 – ‘It has taken a little while but for the last 5 or-so years I’ve become very happy with this.’ This was a villages until reclassified in about 2006/7.

Gorgeous, fresh red berries and flowers here – really gorgeous. Lots of volume, a little more concentration in the mid-palate too – layers of flavour – what a great wine – again! Simply super!

A deft application of wood sets off fresh aromas of dark currant, plum and a similar forest floor component. There is a slightly finer mouth feel to the vibrant flavors that are shaped by firmer tannins and unlike all of the prior wines that should drink well on the younger side, this will need a few years first. Recommended. (89-91)/2023+

The Fine Wine Review

The Clous suffered less from the 2012-13-14 hails than did Bouley’s Volnay holdings. The wine is from vines on white soils. It shows finesse with some structure and a smooth texture, but the wine needs further time to come together.
