John Gilman "View from the Cellar"

The 2014 Gravières from Maison Bourée is a good, red fruity middleweight in themaking. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a mix of cherries, gamebird, nutskin, woodsmoke, mustard seed and chalky soil tones. On the palate the wine is medium-full, focused and nascently complex, with good transparency, modest tannins and sneaky length and grip on the well116 balanced finish. This is another wine that I suspect has a touch more mid-palate stuffing that it was showing at the time of my visit, and if this is the case, then my score will be conservative. 2018-2040.
