Clear fresh bright purple with bounding energy, very fine, a significant mouthful of fruit in quite a modern style, cold soak not stems, good oak. But the wine has density and delivers. Sleeping beauty.

The 2015 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Damodes 1er Cru has a magnificent, well-defined, pure bouquet of black cherry and wild strawberry with subtle cassis notes and impressive crushed stone scents tucked underneath the fruit. The dense palate is medium-bodied with lovely sapidity. Clearly a wine built for the long haul, yet undoubtedly shows the requisite tension and terroir expression. Superb. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2018-2045).

(from a .28 ha parcel). This is more expressive than it usually is at this early stage with its spiced array of plum, violet and earth scents where the latter element can also be found on the delicious, vibrant and stony flavors that possess a taut muscularity. I like the combination of power and refinement displayed by the quite serious but not rustic finale. Good stuff that should age effortless over the next 12 to 15 years. (90-92)/2027+
