Bill Nanson "The Burgundy Report"

JMC loves this vineyard, but needs to be uprooted as it was very hard hit by frost. Despite that, it achieved 15-16 hl/ha, including with a little hail 14 July. Some vine degeneration near the top – Esca coudrayant – vine dries itself in 2 weeks…

A little modest, but a fabulously complex nose – the most puligny of Chassagne! Energy, weight and balance – a wine to search for – bravo! a fabulous finish too!

John Gilman "View from the Cellar"

The 2015 Chassagne “Caillerets” (one has to remember that this is the only cellar in Burgundy where there are two Caillerets in the range!) is outstanding from the Chartrons, with a forward, but pure, deep and very refined personality that will make for outstanding drinking from an early age. The gorgeous nose soars from the glass in a blend of pear, apple, lemon blossoms, chalky minerality, hints of the crème patissière to come and a suave base of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and vibrant, with an excellent core, lovely focus and balance, bright acids and fine nascent complexity on the very long finish. This is a touch reserved today, but I have the sense that it is going to come forward briskly from young Caillerets and will drink with great style after only a couple of years’ worth of bottle age. 2018-2030+.
