Vinous: Stephen Tanzer

Deep, saturated ruby. Initially reticent aromas of dark chocolate and nuts; showed a high-pitched eucalyptus quality as it opened in the glass. Then almost shockingly huge and rich in fruit, with wonderfully lush, complex flavors of cassis, violet, minerals, spices, flowers and exotic chocolate. The tannins are seductively sweet, yet the finish boasts terrific focus, not to mention outstanding persistence. In terms of sheer palate-saturating flavor and texture, this runs a close second to Fonseca among these 2003s. For long aging.

Another pop at the 2003, tasted last only six months ago. It still has, like all the 2003's, an amazing colour. And the nose is stunning, simply bursting with summer fruits. The palate has a massive concentration of tannin, acidity, spices and fruit, all wrapped up in a seductive texture. Superb richness and vibrancy. Excellent wine. Needs 15-20 years. I'm glad to say a consistent score. 19+ Points

For the Love of Port

Fantastic fragrance of freshly crushed grape exhibiting great purity and seasoned by scents of menthol and esteva. Dark fruit flavors prevail, bright, rich and concentrated. Although a powerful Port, its refined tannins and sublime texture lead up to a most stunning finish. Drink now to 2048. 9,000 cases produced. Graham's excelled in this hot vintage! 95 points
