Doudet-Naudin Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Vergelesses 2001 (2396)

Doudet-Naudin Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Vergelesses 2001 (2396)

France - Burgundy - Cote de Beaune - Savigny-les-Beaune
Pinot Noir

One of the prime sites in Savigny, lying just about the Pernand-Verglesses vineyard of the same name. The sandy-marl soil with iron-rich oolite in the upper levels produces a wine with great perfume and style.

Darren Harris

Powerful nose of plum, mineral and dark berries. A little Savigny earth. Palate is deep, with sweet fruit finishing with fresh acidity. Still quite muscular. The wine is energetic with fine length. An unashamedly old-style Burgundy where new oak played no part. Hence the ability to age so gracefully. The benefits of storage in the cool, dark cellars of the domaine are evident.

The new generation has brought life to this great old domaine in Savigny-les-Beaune. Great "museum" wines as well!
